Austin Software Improvement Network (A-SPIN)
SPIN (Software Process Improvement Network) is a forum for the free and open exchange of software process improvement ideas and experiences. The organization serves as a source of educational, scientific and practical information for its members, other SPIN organizations and the general software community. The Austin SPIN is affiliated with the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, the Austin Software Council, the Software Quality Institute and currently has sister SPINs in several cities across the U.S.
Presentation Overview
Recently, I received the following query from a fellow software engineer:
"Gary, the group I’m in has no process for estimating new projects. How would you advise us to start a software estimation process that would be repeatable and reasonably accurate?"
You may be interested in my advice to my friend. The subjects covered in this SPIN presentation include: Customer Requirements, Function Points, Life-cycle Models, automated estimating models, level-of-effort estimation, estimation process and Do’s and Don’ts.
