UT Austin Announces Exchange on Project Management Workshop - this August!

Sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) and UT Austin's Center for Lifelong Engineering Education

Austin, Texas -- The University of Texas at Austin's College of Engineering announces that An Exchange on Project Management is fast approaching. This two-day workshop is designed for engineers, educators, graduate students, upper- and mid-level management, and project managers who want to explore the latest issues facing professionals who find themselves as a project manager.

"We are really excited about having an all-star cast of presenters," said Cath Polito, Business Development Director for the Center for Lifelong Engineering Education. "We are confident that participants will walk away with a set of management and communication tools they can immediately use in their workplace."

The University of Texas at Austin campus will be playing host to a nationwide audience drawn together for focused discussion, knowledge exchange, and networking in a collegiate environment. Issues explored will include risk communication, keys to successful requirements management, globalization, and balancing between cost, schedule and quality. The workshop will create a forum where attendees will examine the issues involved with project management, pull knowledge from the lessons learned in presented case studies, and discover working methods to balance costs, schedule and quality for their projects.

A distinguished lineup of academic and industry experts will lead the sessions. Key note speaker, Ted Keller, Sr. Project Executive at IBM, will discuss the high-maturity Software Engineering disciplines and "state of the practice" Project Management approach that has enabled over 110 Shuttle Missions and 21 years of continuous software execution without a serious in-flight problem with the software system.

UT Austin's Exchange on Project Management will be held in Austin, Texas at The University of Texas at Austin's Thompson Conference Center, Room 1.110 located at 2405 Robert Dedman Drive. The workshop will take place on August 15-16, 2002. Registration is $125.00 per person. The public is invited to attend.
