Process Safety Management for Petroleum Production is designed to familiarize production managers, production engineers, safety managers, and safety engineers with the legal requirements and standards of practice that apply to petroleum production facilities. This course will review the requirements of OSHA and the EPA and the recommended practices of API and the Minerals Management Service. Methods of compliance with these requirements and recommended program documentation will be presented. In addition to traditional lecture, the course utilizes workshops to assist the course participants with putting the course information into practice.
Course Outline
DAY 1 March 29, 2004: 8:30 - 4:30 Introduction, Regulations and Standards Review (API 750 & API 75/14J, OSHA 1910.119, Minerals Management Service, EPA RMP), North Sea Safety Case, Process Safety Information Resources, Elements of Process Safety (Management of Change, Mechanical O.A., Written Procedures, Training, Safe Work Practices, PreStartup Reviews and Compliance Audits, Emergency Response Plans, Contractor Issues)
DAY 2 March 30, 2004: 8:30 - 4:30 Hazards Identification Techniques ("What If" Analysis, Check Lists, FMEA/Fault Tree Analysis, Layer of Protection Analysis), Introduction to HAZOP Methodology, HAZOP Details and Examples, Consequence Analysis
DAY 3 March 31, 2004: 8:30 - 4:30 Introduction to API 14C SAFE Chart Methodology, HAZOP/What If/Checklist Workshop, Impact of ISA 84, SIL Calculations/SIS Studies, Risk Management & SEMP Plans, Strategies for Compliance

Attendance Policy
A 90% attendance rate is required in order to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and certificates of completion.

Cancellation Policy
A full refund, less a $100.00 processing fee, will be given for all cancellations or transfers if notification is received on or before two weeks prior to the beginning of the course. Refunds will not be given for cancellations received after this date. Substitutions may be made anytime prior to the first day of class. The CLEE programs are subject to cancellation if too few people enroll, in which case a full refund will be given.
