Developing Leaders Who Will:

  • Expand knowledge of products and processes
  • Decrease defects and cycle time
  • Improve customer satisfaction
  • Generate business growth and improve profitability
  • Improve communication and teamwork
  • Internalize a common set of tools and techniques
  • This powerful program will provide participants with the proven Six Sigma tools and techniques, plus practical experience to catapult their organization toward "World Class" status. Emphasis is on gaining knowledge in all aspects of product and process life cycles. Researchers, scientists, engineers, managers and practitioners will benefit from a very practical and applied teaching style that emphasizes a Keep It Simple Statistically (KISS) approach.

    Using several in-class exercises, participants will learn how to prioritize, characterize, optimize, and thus, realize return on investment (ROI).

    The course is taught in two five-day weeks, separated by at least one month. Students must gain management sponsorship and complete course assignments at their place of business during the break. The assignment will require increasing knowledge of key business issues resulting in better, faster, lower cost products and services. Required resources (including reference texts and software) are provided.

    Certification

    To become certified in Six Sigma by The University of Texas at Austin, each individual must:

    1. Successfully complete the two weeks of training;

    2. Provide the instructor and their management sponsor a publishable case study that demonstrates and documents the use of Six Sigma tools and techniques, plus ROI from the training; and

    3. Pass the online exam.

    Students will have up to one year to submit their project report and complete the online exam.

    The cost of certification is included in the registration fee.

    Materials

    Textbooks and software will be provided. Students are required to bring a laptop computer with a complete version of Microsoft Excel loaded so they can install the software and practice in-class exercises.
