Creativity and Imagination
Gerald Wagner

The word "creativity" continues to increase as a fashionable term. Creativity is made up of several pieces somehow connected but the key piece is "imagination". Imagination is human kinds greatest asset but also its greatest weakness. Without imagination there is no innovation. Innovation is the value of creativity, i.e., making new things or new designs of old things that someone wants to use.

It is well known how imagination is stifled at an early age. “You can’t draw”. What does drawing have to do with it anyway? The answer is nothing. So since you can’t draw you need to memorize and regurgitate and do well on quizzes. That’s the American educational and reward system.

Jerry will show demonstrations of how technology is stepping in to resuscitate imagination at early ages such as 8 to 15. These are tools for playing while learning, inventing, and imagining. It is too early to know what effect this will have on their adult lives but watch out. It will be major.
