This one-day condensed course is an overview of Front End Planning - the key process in the capital project life cycle. It is focused on creating a strong, early link between the business or mission need, project strategy, scope, cost, and schedule and maintaining that link unbroken throughout the project life. The Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) is a risk management tool that, if employed, can significantly improve the front end planning process. The PDRI is a powerful and easy –to-use tool that offers a method to measure project scope definition for completeness. The participants will have an opportunity to use the PDRI in a hypothetical situation.
The distinguished industry expert and the CII outstanding instructor Dr. Carlos Caldas will teach and share his knowledge and experience at this course.
Modules description:
- Front End Planning: This module is an overview of the front end planning process and its benefits including organizing for front end planning, selecting alternatives, developing the project definition package, and making the project authorization decision.
- Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) – Industrial Projects:The PDRI is a risk management, easy-to-use tool for measuring the project scope definition in industrial projects. It identifies and precisely describes each of 70 critical elements in industrial projects in a scope definition package, and allows a project team to quickly predict factors impacting project risk. This module will cover the background of the tool, how, when and with whom to employ it.
The participants will have an opportunity to use the tool in a hypothetical situation.
