Angelos Angelou is the founder and CEO of AngelouEconomics, an Austin, Texas, based consulting firm specializing in the site selection needs of the technology industry and the communities seeking to recruit them. AngelouEconomics has provided site selection services and location data for some of the largest companies in the world, including AMD, Dell, Intel, Compaq, Applied Materials, Oracle, Sulzer Medica, Citgo, and M+W Zander.
In the firm’s eight-year history, it has provided economic development and recruitment services worldwide. Clients include the states of Texas, New York, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Delaware; Orlando, Florida; New Orleans, Louisiana; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Huntsville, Alabama; Lincoln, Nebraska; Northwest North Carolina/Winston-Salem region; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Cleveland, Ohio; Central Arkansas/Little Rock region; Portugal; Austria; and the Czech Republic.
Prior to forming AngelouEconomics, Angelos was Vice President of Economic Development at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce. During his 11-year career with the chamber, he played a major role in bringing more than 400 corporations employing some 70,000 people to Austin. The recruitment team, under his direction, garnered an impressive string of successes, helping to draw major high tech projects such as SEMATECH, Applied Materials, Apple Computer, and Samsung to the area. A highly visible leader in the field of economic development across the U.S., Angelos is widely regarded as the chief architect in the establishment of Austin as another Silicon Valley.
Angelos is on the Advisory Board for several organizations, including World Congress on Information Technology (Austin 2006), Treaty Oak Bank, St. Edward’s University, and IC2 Institute Fellow of The University of Texas at Austin.
