  • Dennis McWilliams, Founder and CEO of Apollo Endosurgery, on Innovation. Apollo Endosurgery is a venture-backed medical device company that develops flexible tools for minimally invasive surgery, and recently developed the world’s first flexible endoscopic surgical suturing device.
  • Dr. Michael Webber, Faculty member, Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Austin and Associate Director of the Center for International Energy and Environmental Policy, on Energy. Dr. Webber leads and conducts research on projects for policy issues relevant to energy, has published more than a dozen peer-reviewed scientific articles, applied for five patents, and given briefings to senior decision makers at NIST, DoD and Honda R&D Americas.
  • Dr. Monica Scamardo, Founder and President of Variate, on Teambuilding. Variate is a consulting company specializing in the development of people and organizations. Dr. Scamardo’s interest centers on applying research-based behavioral and workplace principles to organization challenges to enable strategic change.
  • Dr. Thomas Darwin, Director of Professional Development and Community Engagement in the Office of Graduate Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, on Leadership. Dr. Darwin has over ten years teaching and consulting experience in Entrepreneurship, Design, Writing, Communication and Ethics, and facilitates workshops on effective collaboration, ethics and leadership, and community engagement.
  • Leslie Martinich, Founder of Competitive Focus, on Ethics. Ms. Martinich has been a practicing engineering manager for more than twenty years at IBM, Compaq, Novell, and emerging software companies. She is the author of more than a dozen articles on engineering management and innovation, and lectures frequently at international engineering conferences.
  • Brian Flynn, Private Consultant, on Sustainability. Brian holds a Master’s in Chemical Engineering, holds three P.E. licenses, and is a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers. Mr. Flynn’s specialty is helping environmental firms to install commercial cultures to complement their existing technical cultures.
  • Dr. Michael Brandl, Senior Lecturer, McCombs School of Business. Michael Brandl received his B.S. degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Houston. His research interests include economic growth, financial economics, and labor economics. His teaching interests include the application of economic theory to management decision making as well as global financial markets.
  • Liz, Wiley, Partner, Andrews Kurth Attorneys, LLP. Ms Wiley’s trial and appellate practice includes a broad range of disputes, including premises and product liability, medical malpractice, administrative law, open records proceedings, and general commercial and bankruptcy-related matters. These disputes at the trial level typically demand strategic written advocacy and error preservation strategies to prepare for appeal. Liz's appellate practice at the state and federal level includes appeals from final judgments, as well as interlocutory appeals and original proceedings.
