Statement of Purpose

The Engineering Master’s Degree Programs require that you complete a Statement of Purpose (essay) where you describe your reasons for pursuing graduate study and your academic and professional interests and goals. It is strongly recommended that you use the electronic "enter your essay text" feature that is included in the online ApplyTexas application. There are two options for submitting your essay:

• Submit your essay online (preferred): Use a text editor such as WordPad to write and save your essay. When you are ready to submit your essay, you can return to this page and use the essay topic links on the ApplyTexas application page to access the essay submission pages or you can submit your essay via the MyEssays tab in your application account. If you are submitting your essay online, it must be no longer than 120 eighty-character lines of text (including spaces and blank lines).
• Type your essay and mail to the below address: If you are mailing a paper copy of your essay, please put your full name, date of birth and the ApplyTexas application ID at the top of each page. Unless otherwise specified, your essay should be typed and no longer than one page (8 ½” x 11”).
