After being out of school for eight years, returning to school while maintaining my full time job to get a technical Masters degree seemed out of reach. The UT CLEE Circuit Design program is well tailored to working engineers who are looking to progress their higher education to the next level while maintaining their current careers. An interesting aspect of the CLEE program is the wealth of knowledge and experience the students bring with them to the classroom discussions. The CLEE instructors embrace and leverage student's real world experiences to heighten the educational experience and close the loop from what is taught vs. what is practiced. The CD instructors also bring in guest speakers from technical communities and industries to elaborate on the latest "state of the art". My experience in the CD program was very positive and feel it will help me achieve my future career goals in hardware design. I would recommend this program to anyone looking to expand their technical knowledge.

The CD program has enabled me with the knowledge necessary for today's technology workplace. Whether it's solving complex problems or understanding what it takes to get the job done the CD program puts me one step ahead of everybody else. The CD program has helped advance my career based on understanding and solving problems easier than my peers. The faculty was very hepful and really took time to listen to what the students wanted to learn and what the students were going through since we also worked full time. The CD program has enabled me to climb the technical design job ladder much quicker than my peers since I can see the problems the company is facing and step forward to help solve them.

The UT MSE in Circuit Design curriculum is leading edge, and the experience gained was immediately valuable to me in the workplace. Undertaking each class with industry peers as classmates created a dynamic learning environment, where discussion of various engineering experiences contributed to our overall education. I graduated from the program with a refined direction for my career and a new confidence in my own abilities. After finishing, I was inspired to build a social network of local technology professionals, based in part on my experiences in the UT MSE in Circuit Design program.

Alumni Focus Group Sound bites:

"If I knew who my classmates would be it would have made a significant difference in my enrolling in this program – I have personal relationships with all my former classmates."

"It is a fact of life that your job is being outsourced. UT’s EM Master’s provides job security."

"I was so impressed by the personal involvement of the professors and their extraordinary willingness and commitment to help us get the very most out of this program. There wasn’t a professor whose home phone number we didn’t have – I have even called them at 8am on Sunday."

"Final decision was based on one thing: UT. When I matched UT’s overall engineering and business programs against reachable universities and programs, it had the best prestige, and also provided contacts."

"It also helps to know where these people are from that went through the program. People that were in our classes came from Houston, Oregon, Dallas, Washington DC, and New Orleans. And the diversity of disciplines as well – it’s not only high-tech, it’s also hospital industries, construction, and others."

"It was fun. The classroom experience was the best part of the program."
