BACKGROUND: Since the mid-1990s, UT Austin electrical and computer engineering faculty have worked closely with industry experts to develop innovative graduate level programs geared to busy full-time-employed engineers wishing to pursue an advanced degree. AMD, Austin Ventures, Cirrus Logic, IBM, Intel, Motorola, Oasis Semiconductor, Silicon Laboratories and ViXS Systems, Inc. are among many corporate contributors to the endeavor. From that successful collaboration three two-year master of science degree programs have emerged: software engineering, engineering management and circuit design. All three require on-campus class attendance one Friday/Saturday per month, and entail a combination of lectures and hands-on lab projects carried out in state-of-the-art facilities within an entrepreneurial environment. They are administered through the university's Center for Lifelong Engineering Education.

Cathe Thomas, Director of Operations for the Option III Engineering Master's Degree Programs, will give a presentation on the three master's programs, addressing admission requirements, university policy, career applicability, deadlines and more.
