UT Austin Announces Airport Pavements Offering - this February!

AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Texas at Austin's College of Engineering announced today that, due to popular demand, they have added a February 2005 offering of their renowned Airport Pavements Short Course. This training will be held in Austin, TX and is one of the most popular public airport training courses on the market.

"With all the widespread changes facing the airport industry, this course couldn't have better timing," said Cath Polito, Business Development Director of the Center for Lifelong Engineering Education. "Since the increased emphasis on planning, construction, and administration of airports are not only important to small and large airports, they are crucial to their future success."

Airport Pavements is a 3-day short course designed to fulfill the needs of professionals involved in the planning, design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and administration of airports. Topics include pavement management, system concepts, GIS for pavement management, design methods for rigid and flexible pavements, pavement conditioning monitoring methods and equipment, rehabilitation and maintenance treatments, and computer methods of runway roughness evaluation. Experts in the field, including principal instructor Dr. Michael T. McNerney, P.E., teach through a series of lectures and case studies.

"These are excellent courses for anyone working in the Airport operations or development field," said Thomas W. Foster, PE Manager with Aviation Services, Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. "The University of Texas offers the kind of courses we want our employees to attend."

Airport Pavements will be held February 14-16, 2005 in Austin, TX at The University of Texas at Austin's Thompson Conference Center. Parking is free to attendees. Early registration on or before January 17, 2005 is $995.00; after that date, registration increases to $1,095. Government employees receive a discounted fee of $895.
