UT's Black Belt Six Sigma Programs Respond to Industry Tighter Turnaround Demand

Austin, Texas -- The University of Texas at Austin's College of Engineering announced today that their upcoming spring schedule for Black Belt Six Sigma Training will be made up of two-week training programs. This training will be held in Austin, TX and is one of the most sought-after and time efficient public training courses on the market.

The UT Program provides practicing professionals the opportunity to obtain Six Sigma tools and techniques in a two-week format. Following the first week of lectures, students return to their job to focus on a work-related project. Students are urged to apply the strategies, tactics, and tools they learned in class to workplace projects with the goal of increasing profitability through quality process improvements. Returning six weeks later for week two of the program, students present their results for input, discussion, and refinement of improvement processes. Leveraging the combined knowledge of the instructors and students results in an exchange of ideas that further enhances quality projects and return on the investment in training for sponsoring companies.

While many providers offer Black Belt training over a four week period, we are responding to a market shift that demands a tighter turnaround," said Cath Polito, Executive Director of the Center for Lifelong Engineering Education. "We give our customers a powerful program that accommodates their loaded work schedules while providing comprehensive tools that are immediately usable."

UT Austin's Six Sigma Training will be held in Austin, TX at The University of Texas at Austin's Thompson Conference Center. The format is week one, February 7-11, 2005, and week two, March 7-11, 2005. Integrated textbooks and software are provided. Students are encouraged but not required to bring a laptop computer with a complete version of Microsoft Excel loaded so they can install the Six Sigma software and practice in-class exercises. Registration is $7,700.00
